Retinal scans are regarded as one of the most secure techniques for authentication and identification purposes. For widespread use, the scanners however are too costly and bulky. A research team from Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS) now has developed the prototype of a compact, portable retina scanner.
